On Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 of October, in the facilities of the Productivity and Training Technical Institute (INTECAP), PepsiCo and cbc taught the first workshop of \u201cAprendizaje Verde\u201d (Green Learning).\u00a0 This workshop was directed to the teachers of the future demonstrative schools in the departments of Izabal, Solol\u00e1 and Zacapa.<\/p>\n
\u201cAprendizaje Verde\u201d (Green Learning\u201d) is created because of the need to provide Latin American teachers with environmental education resources for children in elementary and high school.\u00a0 This program has the objective to educate and contribute to reduce the vulnerability to the climatic change and was developed by the Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey with the support of PepsiCo, Televisa, The Young Americas Business Trust and the American States Organization. With the support of cbc, they are reaching different countries.<\/p>\n
Rosa Mar\u00eda de Frade, cbc\u00b4s Director of Corporate Affairs, said:\u00a0 \u201cAprendizaje Verde\u201d (Green Learning) is a program that provides the best learning resources for teachers in subjects such as water care, adequate management of solid waste and climatic change.\u00a0 Our objective it to reach teachers of elementary and high school.\u00a0 Through this educational innovative model, learning communities are created that allow informing, training, innovating and transforming the culture.\u00a0 This way we are contributing to a better world\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mar\u00eda Isabel Carrera Cancino, Director of Innovation for the Civil Society of the Tecvirtual University of the Tecnol\u00f3gico de Monterrey, who was responsible of teaching the workshop, said:\u00a0 \u201cIt is an opportunity for Guatemalan teachers to have a virtual network of environmental subjects that they can replicate with their students.\u00a0 Education through green programs is the best tool to generate conscience and to reduce environmental contamination.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mar\u00eda Elena Ferguson, Councilwoman of the Puerto Barrios, Izabal, municipality, said:\u00a0 \u201cThis workshop is very important for the Department of Izabal, above all because it represents a change in environmental management.\u00a0 This program is part of a comprehensive plan that includes good management of solid waste in the department.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\t
