cbc contributes to the comprehensive development of Santa Apolonia´s young population with one of the most comprehensive educational programs in the region.    Santa Apolonia is a municipality of the Department of Chimaltenango.

cbc representatives, Álvaro Castillo Monge, Director and Rosa María de Frade, Corporate Affairs Director, partipated in the inauguration of 2 computer labs and in the closing ceremony of a family orientation certification program, together with municipal and educational authorities and of several students from the area.

Mr. Alvaro Castillo Monge, said:  “In cbc we firmly believe that education is the base to reach each person´s potential.  That is why we participate in activities to promote the comprehensive education of our young boys and girls”.

The main purpose of cbc is to give students the best tools for their future.  That is why it is fundamental to incorporate technology in schools.  Together with the Sergio Paiz Andrade Foundation (FUNSEPA), two computer labs were inaugurated at the Mario Méndez Montenegro School and at the Instituto Mixto de Educación Básica in Santa Apolonía, Chimaltenango.  This will benefit 1000 students.

The computers will be used in the regular studies program and also for the “Aprendizaje Verde” (Green Learning) workshops, a virtual community that contains environmental tools.  The program, developed by the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, include the subjects water care, recycling, and climate change vulnerability reduction.  Teachers were recently certified in the use of this important tool that will transform them in leaders in transforming their communities.

The graduation ceremony of 68 teachers and 840 parents from the Family Orientation and Parents School Certification was held at the Santa Apolonia municipality hall.

The Certification Program started in August 2013 and was oriented to optimize the relations with parents and to stimulate their participation in the formation and comprehensive development activities of their kids.  This program is encouraged by cbc through ENLACE, an organization that wants to optimize school education, emphasizing parents and teachers integration as important figures in the development of students.
