cbc multinational beverage company recently subscribed a Cooperation Agreement with Entrepreneurs for the Environment with the objective to add more communities to the recuperation and recycling of PET bottles program.   Today, this network has 300 communities and through this effort between cbc and Entrepreneurs for the Environment it will reach new micro-enterprises that are willing to collaborate with a good environmental management and maybe have better opportunities to increase their income.

Technical personnel of Entrepreneurs for the Environment will develop training courses directed to community leaders, non-governmental organizations, municipalities’ personnel and micro-enterprises about the importance of an adequate management of solid waste.

Rosa María de Frade, cbc´s Director of Corporate Affairs, said:  “Although the network is already working in some departments of the country,  other communities have shown interest to join the initiative in Santa Rosa, Izabal, Zacapa, Alta Verapaz, Baja Verapaz, Escuintla, Quetzaltenango and Totonicapan.  This joint effort will allow for the network to grow and this will have a positive impact in the environmental management of the communities.”

Roque Donadio, Executive Director of Entrepreneurs for the Environment, said:  “It is important to develop an adequate management of solid waste and most of all to promote the three principles of reduce, reuse and recycle.  This new environmental management culture is reaching all corners of the country and the joint efforts with cbc will allow us to accelerate the rhythm.”
